What are Associates?
Each college has faculty, staff, and community associates. There are approximately 20 faculty associates representing a variety of academic fields. Some faculty associates are also divisional advisors. Faculty associates participate in O-Week through the academic advising process. In addition, faculty associates attend lunches and other events at the college throughout the year and are a valuable source of advice for course planning, as well as other issues. Each college also has university associates who are staff or administrators at Rice. Community associates are drawn from the Houston community and are often alumni of the college of which they are associates. Faculty, university, and community associates are involved in a dinner during O-Week (usually hosted at an associate's home) and various social activities throughout the year.
