Diversity Facilitators

Meet Aly, and make sure to pay extra attention to this bio because Aly’s a special, one of a kind person. This fun loving McMurtry junior calls the Houston suburb of Cypress her home. With her beautiful soul she is majoring in Psychology and plans on attending law school in hopes of pursuing a career in social justice to help those in need. Around campus, you’ll catch her volunteering or attending diversity related events as a Diversity Coordinator. However, don’t let all of this fool you, Aly is always up for some fun! She gives off chill vibes and loves to listen to music. If you have Aly as your Diversity Facilitator, buckle up because you’re about to meet the kindest, wokest, and chillest person you may ever encounter in your life. Congrats to you!!!

DF may usually stand for Diversity Facilitator, but for Kush Brahmbhatt it also stands for Definitely Fun, Devout Fortniter, and Dedicated Friend. As a Martel Sophomore Class Representative, Traditions Committee member, and Committee Head for the Rice Poverty and Global Health Coalition, he can help you get involved all around campus. Hailing from Victoria, Minnesota, you’ll see Kush skateboarding every day to his classes, club meetings, and extracurriculars- you might even see him completely wipe out in the middle of the Academic Quad again (let’s hope he’s not still concussed during O-Week)! The only thing this sophomore loves more than studying for his double major in Neuroscience and Political Science is napping unnecessarily throughout the day. We don’t know how he does it, but Kush balances all of his Rice activities (he’s pre-med too!) while working in an off-campus neurosensory lab at Baylor. A self- proclaimed “Hammock Enthusiast,” you can catch Kush listening to anything from classical music to Childish Gambino. Get ready for an unDoubtedly Fantastic time with your DF, Kush!

You’re sitting in Coffeehouse and a girl catches your eye, talking to her friends animatedly as she passionately speaks about (or more like spoils for others) her newest Netflix obsession. Suddenly, she dabs and starts laughing hysterically, leaving you unsure as to whether this is due to her lack of sleep or her obvious sense of humor. To clear your doubts, it’s probably both, because you’ve most likely just seen sophomore Amna Ali in one of her favorite habitats. This native Houstonian tends to seem shy when you first meet her, but that’s honestly because she’s still trying to decide which vine references you’d relate to and appreciate the most. Once she gets to know you, however, there’s no end to the meme tagging that you’ll be subject to for as long as she knows you. Despite all the stresses of being a pre-med and Policy Studies major (and if it works out, her very own designed Islamic Studies minor!), Amna is one of the most helpful people you will ever meet. Itching to volunteer at a non-profit in Houston? Need help on homework or on an application? Just need a hug and someone to listen to you? Amna will always be there, and she can’t wait to be your Diversity Facilitator!

Amna is a member of the following advising teams: The Martelian’s New Groove, Disco Club Penguins, ABBAyonce, and Avatar: Earth, Wind and Fire Benders.
