Shelbi Armstrong/ Senior / Martel / RHA and Gopher
This senior hailing from Chicago is anything but cold and chilly; she’s known for her chocolate chip cookies and her coffee
addiction. Although seemingly quiet at first, she just might catch you by surprise with a savage quip, if you’re lucky. You can
almost certainly always find her at one of three places: the Sundeck, DJ-ing at the student radio station KTRU, or Coffeehouse.
Having been a head RHA and a spirit head, she knows how to make anytime both safe and enjoyable. Being on KTRU’s internal
board, she plans amazing concerts and plays ~cool~ music all year long. She’s a psychology major and has been involved
in research since her freshman year, so you know she’s got that big brain energy!! Although grace and punctuality aren’t
necessarily her strongest qualities, she’s always there to make sure you’re ok and will match any and all of your weird energy.
Sukul Mittal / Junior / Martel
You’re standing in the middle of the quad at Martel when you hear the sound of shrill laughter and… K-pop? Who could be the
essence of these sounds? None other than Sukul (aka Sue Cool) Mittal. This junior biochemistry pre-med is obsessed with coffee
(catch her drinking iced americanos at chaus!) and BTS (the Bus, Takis, and Sleeping). She’s also from Houston, so if you need any
recommendations of things to do around here, Sukul is your girl. When she’s not organizing Model UN conferences or giving academic
advice as one of Martel’s Head PAA’s, you can find her walking to her car, spending time with her adorable dog Clue, or studying at a
cute coffee shop (just ask her about the mochas at Cafe Brioche!). She’s super kind and super smart so she’s basically superwoman but
her kryptonite is decaf coffee and 8am’s. Sukul is also an amateur filmmaker, so if you like her videos you can be a part of the SamFam,
Sukul’s fan club. She’s also incredible at playing cello and she once starred in her school’s production of the opera Pearl as the title
character, Pearl, which just goes to show that with Sukul as your Advisor, the world is your oyster. You are so lucky to have Sukul as
your Advisor!!
Diego De La Fuente / Sophomore / Martel
Meet Diego De La Fuente! A class of 2023 Political Science Major from Kyle, Tx. Diego always knows how to switch it up. One night you
can catch him running around campus screaming with friends—the next night, alone in his room blasting Marvin’s Room on repeat.
The only thing that changes more than his mood is his major: he’s been cycling between Political Science, Environmental Science,
and CEVE his entire freshman year. But underneath all the chaos, Diego’s just a loyal dude who rides and dies for his friends. He
always wants to catch up, even if he literally just talked to you half an hour ago. And there’s nothing too whack for him to talk about:
everything from PUBG Mobile, to Soundcloud rappers, to the 500th poster in his room. You won’t be able to hold a conversation
with him without catching his positive vibes. So get pumped for O-Week because he’s super excited to meet every one of y’all!
Kaitlyn Crowley / Sophomore / Will Rice
It’s 3:30am. You’re upset and need a friend to vent to. Before you can even blink, Kaitlyn is sprinting across the academic quad in
the middle of the night (rocking her bright pink crocs) just for you. Kaitlyn hails from sunny Los Angeles, and she is sure to be
a ray of sunshine in your life. She will be there for you at any hour, since luckily she believes sleep is optional for her despite her
Kinesiology and pre-med big brain. This sophomore is addicted to committing to every activity at Rice (her Google Calendar induces
nightmares). However, she’ll commit the majority of her time to being involved in your life. Spend time getting to know her too.
Her best friends call her an enigma because no one is more ambiguous than her. But trust me, you’ll discover something surprising
about Kaitlyn everyday (be sure to ask about her opinion on rats and about her dishwashing skills). You’ll also learn about her own
residential college, Will Rice. Kaitlyn loves Will Rice so much that she will randomly howl its namesake on the dance floor. She
embodies the fiery spirit of Will Rice; she is passionate, lively, and THE BEST. So congrats, you just got the coolest O-Week Mom!
